The older phones (e.g. 5110/6110/3210/3310) doesn't support AT command set.
You can use M2BUS or FBUS commands, but this is much harder. You can look
into gnokii (source and documentation) for details. gnokiid is a modem
emulator for these phones.

Modern phones (e.g. 7110/6210/6310) contain a built-in modem so you can
use AT commands there.

I sent a CC to the mailing list. There are some people who attached his
phone to a microcontroller. You can look into the mailing list archives
for details.

Maybe some phone driver supports it (probably the nk6100). Compile gnokii
and make some experiment.
