yes, its easily possible :-)
First of all try to redirect incoming emails to a script (e.g. by using
procmail).
Now this script needs to process the email (take phone number, text etc from
it).
When you are using smsd, you can just create a file in the spool folder
(when using file module) or add an entry to the outgoing table in your database.

Voila, you're done :-)
