[gNewSense-users] no wifi on fresh installation gNewSense MIPS (and other things) |

hi, i've installed gNewSense on my yeeloong machine, but
1) i can't find a way to run the wifi.
after booting i hold the Fn key and it F5 but the wireless LED don't
lights up.
different function key work properly.
i don't have a desktop environment, i run a minimal Ratpoison window
manager and wicd-curses for easily manage wifi connection.
i have tried to change the /etc/network/interfaces like suggested in the
wiki but without result.

3) something about the installation guide on the wiki. i don't know if i
need to open another thread or here is ok
but the 9) statement say
...To make your system boot gNewSense it is sufficient to set the al
variable:
set al (wd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz-3.5.3-gnu
on my machine if i don't use GRUB, this cause a kernel panic at the
boot, with or without the boot.cfg file properly configured.
in my experience boot directly via PMON is more more fast than using
GRUB, so may be the words "GRUB is the preferred way of booting
gNewSense." for gNewSense-MIPS is not true :-)
i point the attention at this point of the wiki instruction only because
is not so clear, may be for the non english mother language people, like
me.
