Thanks, I forgot to mention this link -- these debs are for metad:
deb http://www.getgnash.org/deb-repo metad main
My compilation got out of stupor now and I suppose it will succeed finally.
I'd build debs and share them with everyone, but learning the deb packaging is
still on my TODO list :-)
