I am quite happy about the change, but would also like to know why. Just speculating, but I suppose that there may be multiple reasons.

Ubuntu also supports AMD64, but gNewSense never did. So it seems to follow that just because Debian supports 21 different architectures it does not necessarily follow that gNewSense must, or will.
