This has traditionally relied upon non-free software for its operation, so b43 has probably been removed from the kernel.
The OpenFWWF site claims that that their goal is to provide an open source firmware for Broadcom/AirForce chipset based devices, but their site goes on to say that to make the firmware work properly you need at least 2 more files that must be extracted from original Broadcom drivers: b0g0bsinitvals5.fw and b0g0initvals5.fw.
This makes me wonder if it truly is free software. May I suggest replacing your WiFi card with one that is better supported by free software?
