Oh... I wasn't aware that there was an issue with the wireless card. 
See, I'm fine buying a new mini-pci wireless card that is free, but I
don't want to buy a laptop with non-free hardware in it in the first
place.  Aren't there any laptops out there that ship with an open
wireless card?
