As I mentioned here before [1] the kernels on the Yeeloong won't boot when a root=UUID=... parameter is passed to them. It results in a kernel panic. But booting with root=/dev/bla does work.

This problem initially goes unnoticed, because grub.cfg right after installation has the root=/dev/bla form. But when update-grub is called it changes to the UUID form. See also bug report [2].

It can be changed to not use UUID [3], but UUID should really just work. Is this problem [4] caused by a config option that's missing for Linux?
