Yes, please reformat any such unreadable stuff you find - either to
use 8-char tabs or spaces, as you please.

IRC is not the place for decisional discussions, mail is the place for
that, so as not to exclude people who do not happen to be awake or
online at the time, or people (like me) who find it a low-quality
medium more dominated by people's personality or their ability to be
rude and imposing than by the merits of what they say.

IRC is ok for quick "does anyone know how I do this" questions but not
for discussing the merits of technical issues. If you use IRC please
redirect such topics to the mailing lists.
The same goes for private discussions and inner-circle meetings which,
in general are a bad thing for open source projects.
