Why doesn't someone take initiative in designing such software? You can
make a team where one will look from SMB protocol front and other can
look from gui front like gtk or Qt. This can be a wonderful utility if
you guyz can come up with. In fact you can make better software than
Netscan by adding features like indexing the network shares and
performing a quick search on it rather than doing netscan every time you
need something.

Rishi or someone can explain what all the technicalities that are
required for making such a software, so that you guyz can start getting
your hands dirty on it.

Necessity is the mother of invention ;)

Any more food for thought?

Cheers
Vijay
