I think the GNU Glue project is very interesting, and I think that
"groupware" falls under two different categories here: the asynchronous
aspect, such as e-mail, calendaring, various message-board types of
communication; and synchronous, like IRC, ICQ, audio and video
conferencing and file exchange.  

If you are planning to build a "fat client," perhaps it should focus on
the asynchronous aspect of community to compete with MS NetMeeting.  I can
see myself wanting to host my own videoconference from my home with
broadband access, but I'm not going to run a mail server or check a fellow
developer's calendar there, I expect to go to the URL of an online
community for those things.  

What do you think?
