[Gdb] No symbol "new" in current context

I am attempting to debug a fortran program and I am getting the error:
No symbol "new" in current context
I have removed the optimization option.
The program runs fine in non-debug.

Using:
Intel Fortran compiler 9.0
Eclipse 3.2 with photran
gdb 3.4
OpenSuSE 10.1

What can I do?
