Thanks!  It is now working with 2.6.1/W2k/Athlon.  Calculating (expt 234
234234) takes about 1 sec; printing it takes about 72 secs.  Presumably
printing is repeatedly bignum dividing by 10 (with 50,000 intermediate
results with an average size of 25,000 digits!) -- better algorithms are
possible, but probably not worth it.
