those of us who, like me, have difficulty getting a quality flash stream due to old hardware could try using get_iplayer. The manual is a little impenetrable but (from memory) I do:

get_iplayer (to list all programs)
or
get_iplayer click (to list all programs with click in the title)

then, once I have the program id (let's say its 593 this time) I do:

get_iplayer --get 593 --modes flashvhigh

and, once is has arrived at the root of my home directory I just play it in vlc, at much higher quality than the iPlayer normally delivers.

There's nothing particularly dodgy about doing it this way, this stream is available to iPhone users, the software just pretends to be an iPhone, as I understand it.
