Indeed. However, I wasn't aware of the tremendous influence of using
an approximated or exact gamma value calculation. Look at the dark
image example given on that page in section `Assume a gamma of 2.2'.
A very nice side effect of reading that article is that you are
basically forced to set your monitor's gamma to the right value,
otherwise you can't see the test images correctly :-)
