Hello everyone,
I've just tagged the current CVS sources with VER-2-2-0 in the
repository. This means that the official 2.2 release is now in
preparation.
For the very impatient, there is a pre-autoconf'ed package at
the following address:
http://turnerdavid.neuf.fr/freetype/freetype-2.2.tar.bz2
For the record, I've finished my tour of "old" Linux distros,
trying to install the current CVS in each one of them to see if
it breaks things. I'm glad to say that I couldn't find any problem
in the following ones:
Sarge 3.1
Redhat 9 (Shrike)
Fedora Core 2
CentOS 4
RHEL 4
Mandrake 9.2
Mandrake 10
Ubuntu 5.04
Ubuntu 5.10
Ubuntu Dapper Flight 6
that's largely enough for me, my time being more than limited.
Of course, I don't guarantee that all packages were tested, but I tried
at least to run Firefox, Open Office, GNUStep Terminal, XPDF and a few
others, without problems.
I could not reproduce the scaling bug that I describe in a previous
post, so I'm wondering what I've been smoking at the time. Anyway, this
looks like a very solid release, and I'm glad we're finally completing
it.
Of course, there still remains things to improve, but that will be for
2.2.1 or later.
Regards,

PS: I've noticed that our 'configure' script will abort if no C++
compiler is installed on the syst a C++ compiler isn't
installed on the system. I find this very sad, is there an autoconf
hacker here that could get rid of this stupid dependency ?
