[Freetype] Lookingfor a lib

Hi,

I am looking for a lib which lets me read the font data in a header.

I have a directory in which are many many fonts. I want to write a program 
which checks directory and makes me a 
list of all the fonts in the directory, the name, the format, the copyright 
information, etc. Is there a lib 
which I can use?
