Hi Shannon,

 I'm not a representative of FreeType, I am just a random person who happens to subscribe to this list and I'm not even a copyright holder of any of the FreeType source code.

 However, have you read the FreeType license at: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/freetype/freetype2.git/tree/docs/FTL.TXT ?

 It's a very liberal license and would require very little from Activision, namely: 

      Redistribution in binary form must provide a  disclaimer  that
      states  that  the software is based in part of the work of the
      FreeType Team,  in  the  distribution  documentation.  We also
      encourage you to put an URL to the FreeType web page  in  your
      documentation, though this isn't mandatory.

Many other companies use FreeType in closed source projects, if you look at the 'About' or 'Information' screen on your smartphone you'll probably find that it mentions FreeType somewhere and a bunch of other open source projects with similar licenses.
