This looks like Oxygen has been hinted with an older version of
ttfautohint which was buggy...  Current version is 0.8.  In case the
font doesn't contain a glyph named `.ttfautohint', you can simply
rerun ttfautohint on it to update the hints.

No.  ttfautohint uses standard instructions everywhere.  No special
stuff, no optimization for ClearType.
