The rendering with the current cvs repository version does not work either.

checked out with:
"cvs -d:pserver:address@hidden:/sources/freetype 
checkout freetype2"

Is this the most recent version?

(compiled with: gcc -O0 -g -W -Wall -std=gnu99 -pedantic -I 
~/cvs/freetype2/include -o example example.c 
~/cvs/freetype2/objs/.libs/libfreetype.a -lm -lz)
