Basically yes, but AFAIK the superuser has to do that. David, please
change it.  Additionally, to really get an executable in the checked
out repository, the file must be deleted (in the local sandbox), and
checked out again.

Thanks for the fix; I've applied it to the CVS.

Hmm, you are talking about shared libraries, aren't you?  I think it
is best to let libtool handle that completely, and this script
provides these options IIRC.
