Setting TeX-interactive-mode active in AUCTeX does let me send any input to TeX on Mac OS X |

Hello!
Setting TeX-interactive-mode active in AUCTeX in GNU Emacs 22.0.93 or
in Carbon Emacs (based on GNU Emacs 22.0.9x) lets me send an 'x' from
the file's corresponding AUCTeX *output* buffer to the TeX executable
to make it quit when it hits an error in the TeX source, but not in
GNU Emacs 23.0.0 and in Emacs.app, based on the same (Uni)code.
There are some diferences from describe-mode:
Enabled minor modes: Auto-Compression Blink-Cursor Column-Number
! Desktop-Save Display-Time File-Name-Shadow Global-Auto-Composition
! Global-Font-Lock Line-Number Menu-Bar Mouse-Wheel Shell-Dirtrack
! Show-Paren Tex-Pdf Tooltip Transient-Mark

! Line-Number Menu-Bar Mouse-Wheel Shell-Dirtrack Show-Paren Tex-Pdf
! Tooltip Transient-Mark Unify-8859-On-Encoding Utf-Translate-Cjk
and while GNU Emacs 23 describes the "major-mode" XeLaTeX in two line
like
Major mode not specialized for anything in particular.
Other major modes are defined by comparison with this one.
GNU Emacs 22.0.93 makes it almost 80 lines long, including some key
bindings.
