I'm not sure I follow you.
In the version of Emacs I am using (which is based on a CVS snapshot
from 11 months ago), auto-image-file-mode is defined in image-file.el
which is written by you. The only difference between this version of
image-file.el and the version in CVS as of today is that the current
CVS version has added yank-handler support and set the safe-magic
property of image-file-handler. Both versions are marked as being
authored by you.
There is no file in Emacs CVS (at least on the trunk) that defines
"image-file-mode". There is only "auto-image-file-mode".
Are you talking about something different?
