OK, so it seems to be working correctly. When you say "delay" do you mean
that the text is at first not fontified correctly, or that Emacs stays
frozen for a while, working hard? If the latter, please keep an eye on
those delays. If you could describe typical patterns of usage where those
delays are noticeable, there may be ways to optimize those cases.
