Because I just compiled a fresh CVS checkout of Emacs and still see
the problem and haven't found a check-in by Stefan related to the
problem, I am a bit unsure whom you are referring to.  Should it be
fixed in Emacs or AUCTeX?  As far as I understood Stefan, it has to be
done in Emacs.  At least my attempts to bind `deactivate-mark' in the
concerned AUCTeX function were unsuccessful.  Which is not surprising
if the mark is deactivated during the minibuffer exit.
