No, I was talking about the version of speedbar included in the cedet
package (on sourceforge), which I load from my init-file. As James
Cloos, who I was responding to, mentioned, the messages don't occur
with the version speedbar distributed with Emacs. (php-mode (not in
Emacs) requires speedbar, and it in my case that happened to be the
cedet version, not the Emacs one. This discussion only arose because
I had negligently failed to check Emacs -Q before posting my bug
report. Nevertheless, it did help me find out why I was getting those
messages.)
