I have nothing against using other equivalent functions when they
become available. However, the cl functions have a big bonus in my
perspective as a standalone package developer in that they are present
in all versions of Emacs and XEmacs that CC Mode supports. Therefore
it'll take a good while before I can completely replace them with
other variants.

Well, it's a matter of fact that my stance on this issue is a
maintenance problem when CC Mode is incorporated into Emacs, so Dave
Love is correct in labelling it as such and I'm not offended by that.

I really am sorry for causing this trouble. I think I've given
rational arguments for my position, and I'm prepared to change my mind
when shown sufficient rational arguments to the contrary. In that case
I'd also extend the explanation for the cl policy in the manual with
those arguments so that this isn't repeated.

Thank you. :) I attribute the relatively small amount of bugs to the
extensive CC Mode test suite that Barry Warsaw started. By now it
contains a fair amount of tricky code snippets that have been
collected over more than seven years.
