I am used to editing a gzipped MSDOS format file on a remote machine
using ange-ftp.
When I switched to a recent CVS build of Emacs 21.3 I find that
visiting the file successfully retrieves it using FTP and
successfully gunzips it, but I end up with '^M' on the end of every
line. The left hand side of the mode line says "1\" which indicates
that the file is in MSDOS format, but the ^M characters are showing.
Unusally when Emacs recognises an MSDOS format file it hides the ^M
characters for me. Currently I am having to replace-string them out
of existance.
In GNU Emacs 21.3.50.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600)
of 2003-04-22 on CHRISLAP
configured using `configure --with-gcc (3.2)'
