MenuBar X resorce ineffective

From: chad
Subject: MenuBar X resorce ineffective
Date: Fri, 3 Jan 2003 13:57:28 -0500 (EST)

Symptoms:

This might be a case of `pilot error', but I've tried all the
permutations I can imagine, to no avail. I've tried `Emacs.pane.' and
`Emacs*'. I've tried `MenuBar', `menuBar', and `menubar'. I've tried
`off', `Off', `False', `false', and `0'.

Info says:

 `menuBar' (class `MenuBar')
Give frames menu bars if `on'; don't have menu bars if `off'.
*Note Lucid Resources::, and *Note LessTif Resources::, for how to
control the appearance of the menu bar if you have one.

 `toolBar' (class `ToolBar')
Number of lines to reserve for the tool bar. A zero value
suppresses the tool bar. If the value is non-zero and
`auto-resize-tool-bars' is non-`nil', the tool bar's size will be
changed automatically so that all tool bar items are visible.

The corresponding X resource setting for tooBar works correctly. I
have verified that the new resources are loaded correctly before
running `emacs -q' and `emacs -q -no-site-file'.

Can someone please let me know if this setting works for them? (note:
I know that I can suppress the menu bar with elisp; I would like to do
it before emacs draws the initial window).

Thank you,
chad
