True - I guess the misspelling saved me from any troubles that contrib
could have caused :-) My minimal file now starts like this:

(add-to-list 'load-path "~/src/emacs/org/org-mode/lisp")
(require 'org-loaddefs)
...

If I need contrib, I can just uncomment the first line.
