Display of images in eww (was: Pixel-based display functions)

there's a large tree-like display of carnivore families starting about
1/3d of the page down.  Firefox displays one or more small images at
the end of each line in the tree, but eww displays them all as a
single long line after the tree.  Why cannot eww show each image where
it belongs?
