    Newsflash!  RMS recommends Netflix![1]  ;-)

We were talking about mentioning a repository as an option for people
to use.  I didn't make sure to repeat that in full, I said just
"mentioning", but I think you could have understood the intended
meaning from the context.

    Allowing the user to specify a generic base URL in the package access
    software is a very weak recommendation, since it "recommends" everything
    on the web.

A general facility like that doesn't recommend anything in particular.
Listing particular programs or collections leads people towards them;
that's what we need to be selective about.
