I did not say I do not like the other way of marking a region. I use
it sometimes (and I would not have known about them if it were not for
these discussions).

However most of the time I am quite satisfied with cua-modes way of
doing it. You can mark commands there as "region extenders" so to say.
This is very useful and should in my opinion be used more.

Unfortunately we can not discuss that since we are to occupied with
the kind of discussion we have here. I have no doubt that we will
change Emacs' defaults more and more towards default in other editing
environments. Actually I do believe nearly all of us have the same
thought. The problem is merely how to go there without disruption.

Therefore I would be glad to divide between personal opinions (which
are useful and valuable) and more objective descriptions (which of
course also are valuable and useful). Beeing clear about the division
would make it much easier to be creative in the discussion, both
because we better understand what other involved in the discussion
want and also because those that think angry arguments are heavy will
otherwise have their creativity totally disappearing. (That is how
human beeings functions psychologically.)
