Not just that, but, if Emacs instance 1 is really running, why do we
want to check from instance 2? To be sure that instance 1 still has a
valid server accessible from emacsclient, or to avoid clobbering 1's
auth file? IMHO, it's no business of 2 to verify that 1 is still
answering, but just to be sure that it is not it, 2, the one
responsible of leaving 1 incommunicado.
