You normally do not change OS. The main time for doing so is probably 
when buying a new computer.

I tried to make a double boot installation the last time. But this 
crashed my windows installation and after that I had not had time to try 
it out again.

So at least in my case the quality of GNU/Linux did matter for my choice 
at the moment.
