23.0.60; Error when doing drag and drop into Dired

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

emacs -Q

C-x d RET

M-x load-library RET dired-aux RET

M-: (setq dired-backup-overwrite 'ask) (you can use customize-variable
to set it too)

Now drag some file from your desktop (I am running GNOME) into the
dired buffer. I get the error:

(void-variable dired-overwrite-confirmed)

I looked at the code in dired-aux.el briefly and I cannot say what the
problem is exactly but it seems the code is a bit fishy, especially this line:

  (defvar dired-overwrite-confirmed)

Shouldn't that variable at least get an initial value?

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
