I wonder if you're recalling that I said that Kyle had a hand in
XEmacs's portable dumper?  I know of no connection between Kyle and
python-mode.el.

Ken mentioned that perhaps Richard was thinking of Tim Peters, the original author of python-mode.el. Tim, to the best of my knowledge, is certain that he's signed papers for his original work.
