The standard binding is C-c C-k (kill-find).
Thanks Andreas, I did not know that. Actually I found now that the corresponding command kill-compilation is in the menus if you run grep-find. However kill-find is not in the menus.

However I still believe it should be more simple to stop the process. (For a suggestion about how see my other messages on this subject.)
