After moving the multiplication with 25.4 to the front it got better.

Anyway, I am quite surprised that the values returned by the current
code in CVS are so accurate in your case.  Have you tried if the
values are comparably accurate with your setup with the patch applied?

I don't have any special settings.  This is a 14 inch LCD panel on a
notebook with a resolution of 1400x1050 pixels I am working on.  The
user who reported the issue on the AUCTeX list wrote that he is using
a display device with 1680x1050 which might be an LCD panel on a
notebook as well.  Maybe that is the problem.
