Given that we have both defvaralias and
define-obsolete-variable-alias, it is silly to assume that defvaralias
is only for variables that are obsolete. When the reason for the
alias is that a name is obsolete, people should use
define-obsolete-variable-alias instead.
So I tend to agree with you about this question.
