I think the following change is the reason.

* international/fontset.el (setup-default-fontset): Change "*" to
nil in the specifications of font family.
Could you try this?
(set-fontset-font "fontset-default" 'thai-tis620 '("*" . "TIS620"))
(clear-face-cache t)
