Re: EGifPutExtensionLast feature depricated in new libungif

EGifPutExtensionLast is deprecated in libungif 4.1, so configure
fails to verify that it is installed properly. A global
    replace-string "EGifPutExtensionLast" to "EGifPutExtension" in
    configure script, solves the problem.

The purpose of checking for EGifPutExtensionLast is something unusual.
We don't actually use EGifPutExtensionLast. The idea is to reject
linungif versions before libungif-4.1.0b1, because they make Emacs
crash.

Which libungif versions did you test this change with? Does
EGifPutExtension exist in older versions? What happens if you make
this configure change and try to link with an older libungif version?
Does Emacs go ahead and link with it (and then presumably crash)?
If so, that fix does not work.
