+AC_ARG_WITH(union-type, +[ --with-union-type use union type for lisp object representation + (slows performance, better compile-time checks)]) --with options are supposed to be used only for stating whether to use specific other software packages. So you can't use --with here. It looks like there is no standard form of argument that you can use. I think you should leave this out.
