IMHO, this is also more in accordance with the documenation for the
pre-/post-command-hook variables, as it says `each command', not `each
command, except those run via M-x':
Commands are functions, and they can be called as functions
in many ways within Emacs Lisp code. "Each command" means
each command run by the editing command loop.
Should I make the change?
No, please don't. I don't want that change.
