I think this is kind of a narrow viewpoint and it brings up a number of
questions.

You say "GTK is the recommend GUI toolkit for GNU programs".  Is this
recommended or forced?  What if QT eventually becomes clearly superior to GTK?

Also, what if a GTK effort AND a QT effort were created?  Could they both exist
in CVS?

Anyway... I am just curious.  In my mind, once software is Free Software
(especially GPL), then we should be free to make the best technical decision.
If GTK is the best decision then fine.  If QT is the best decision, I am fine
with that too.
