Hi,

I must say that I've never used MuseScore so far, but it seems that
currently it's the best (free as in freedom) GUI notation program.

This is what we are missing. The output of LilyPond is much better than
any proprietary software, but most of people won't be willing to write a
score by typing text. Even though there are great editors such as
Frescobaldi (which should become cross-platform in version 2, within the
end of this year probably) which makes it easier. It's a matter of
attitude..

I thought about bringing Free Software notation in music schools and I
came to the conclusion that I will never succeed if I propose LilyPond.
I should propose a GUI program such as MuseScore and then maybe teach
some tweaking in the LilyPond code.

Waiting for Schikkers-List, a LilyPond GUI in the prototype phase:

MuseScore and LilyPond have been recently featured on Linux Magazine:

Cheers,
Federico
