[Dvdrtools-users] Dvdrecord and recognising a MATSHITA DVD-RAM LF-D310 on Redhat 7.3?

Hi,

(first post to this list after looking through the mailing list archives)

On the latest Redhat 7.3 - dvdrecord and related tools do not
seem to recognise (as least on my system) an IDE/Atapi 
MATSHITA DVD-RAM LF-D310 as a writable DVD-RAM - only as a 
read only DVD (?)
(this is using the following on boot in lilo.conf to make it
look like a SCSI device /dev/scd0
  append="hdd=ide-scsi"

dvdrecord: Sorry, no CD/DVD-Recorder or unsupported CD/DVD-Recorder 
found on this target.


(this problem was happening on Redhat 7.2 as well - which is why
I have been trying Redhat 7.3)

Is there a fix somewhere to this?  There have been glimpses of
fixes after searching on Google - but the referring pages had
disappeared? (custom hacks to versions of cdrecord by the looks)
