Restoring from a full backup using tar and gpg is feasible, if the various tar files are intact.  I have never tried to manually restore without using duplicity.  Perhaps it's time I tried.

Hello!  I'm writing a guide for users of Deja Dup who are trying to

It covers using duplicity directly, but I also wanted to cover the
absolute worst ever case, having to stitch together the patch files
inside the volumes, in the case where duplicity itself also has a bug
preventing restore (which would be of potential interest to all
duplicity users, not just Deja Dup users).

Has anyone ever done this?  I know I'm supposed to be able to use tar
and rdiff, but documentation on rdiff seems light.
