sorry don't know .. I personally use ftp .. but these days i was in
contact with someone who tested and found that rsync over ssh was faster
than plain sftp. I suggest you simply do a benchmark with an acceptable
amount of data vs throughput = time over the backends you might use and
choose the fastest.
