I use VMware Workstation v6 and they've taken it out of the network
setup, otherwise, that would be my first choice.  Under v3 and v4 there
used to be a way to set up hubs, subnets, speed, and quality from the
network setup tool, but that's been gone since v5, and I'm just not keen
on trying to get an older version running on the newer Linux.

I usually start RedHat and a Windows XP VMs for testing.  FTP gets
tested on both Linux and XP servers, ProFTPd and Filezilla (sp?).  The
rest of the protocols get tested on Amazon and rsync.net.  The only
one's I can't test are HSI and IMAP, so I hope I don't have to support
too many problems with them.
